Small fine-grained fur: Commonly used types include marten, otter, silver mouse, muskrat, beaver, and mink fur. This category of small fine-grained fur is the most expensive, with a fine, short, and soft coat, suitable for making hats, coats, and the like.
Coarse fur: Commonly used types include sheepskin, wolf skin, leopard skin, and marmot skin. These coarse furs have longer hair and slightly larger sizes, and can be used to make hats, coats, vests, and clothing linings.
Large-scale fur types: Commonly used ones include fox fur, raccoon dog fur, lynx fur, badger fur, and marten fur. Due to their large size, these types of fur provide designers with greater design freedom and are often used to make hats, coats, cloaks, and so on.
Sable fur: This is the most precious fur, without a doubt. High-quality sable fur has dense and lightweight sable hair, with long and uniquely lustrous outer hair and thick and soft underfur. Female sable fur is narrower, smaller, and lighter, with shorter sable hair, and products made from it are usually more expensive than male sable coats. Sables, also known as black sables, are native to Russia and Canada. They were once the exclusive property of the Tsar. Of course, sables are not purple; they come in various shades such as black, brown, and yellow, and the rarity of fur of different shades varies. The brownish-blue fur is known as Crown sable. Golden sable, on the other hand, has a beautiful amber hue. The top-quality sable fur is characterized by its smooth brown color with long, silky black hairs, and the highest quality even contains evenly distributed silver-white guard hairs.
Fox fur: It is one of the most commonly chosen fur skins in fur fashion. High-quality fox fur is dense and rich, with elastic and dynamic texture. Fox fur comes in a variety of natural colors, such as silver fox, blue fox, white fox, brown fox, red fox, and gray fox, each with a unique appearance. Among them, silver fox fur is a treasure among fox furs. In ancient China, there was a saying, "First-grade black fox, second-grade marten, third-grade raccoon dog and badger." In today's international fur market, it is also known as "soft gold." Good fox fur has a relatively dense undercoat, completely and evenly covered by the outer layer of guard hairs. The fur is as soft as silk, and after being touched, the down can quickly return to its original shape.
Silver mouse skin: Its fur is as white as snow, moist and lustrous, with no impurities. Both the guard hairs and the underfur are of equal length, offering a very soft and smooth feel. Moreover, silver mouse skin is easy to shape and convenient for dyeing, making it a favorite among designers. It is often crafted into scarves, ear muffs, handbags, and other small leather accessories with exquisite details.
Wolf skin: The quality of wolf skin varies greatly depending on the length of the dorsal scapular stripes. Wolf skin from the eastern part of Canada and the eastern United States tends to be larger in size, with coarser fur and darker color. On the other hand, wolf skin from the west is softer, lighter in color, and slightly smaller in size. The key to distinguishing good wolf skin from poor is the color of its cortex.
First, we should classify them into four levels based on the color of their abdomens:
Clarity: The color of these fur skins on the belly is basically completely white, with very clear and glossy undercoat and guard hair, without any yellow or brown mixed in.
Slight yellowing: The undercoat of the fur on the belly area shows a slight gray hue at the base of the undercoat, and a slight yellow tint appears at the tips of both the undercoat and the guard hairs.
The lowest grades are the yellowed and severely yellowed wolf skins, both of which have yellow mixed in with the undercoat and the tips of the guard hairs on the belly.
Sheepskin: Sheepskin comes in different varieties and a wide range of textures to choose from. From uniformly wavy lambskin to thick, curly heavyweight sheepskin, there is a vast array of options.
Purple Orchid Skin: The best quality purple orchid skin is produced in the United States. It has a short and dense fur, which feels soft and silky to the touch. The dark blue outer fur is glossy, and the dark-colored underfur is dense and rich. Other colors are also available.
